Peter Rosenberg Says Nicki Minaj Made the Most Sell-Out Song In Hip-Hop History
Hot 97’s radio hip-hop pioneer, Peter Rosenberg, recently criticized Nicki Minaj’s new song, “Starship.” He condemned it’s pop sound in comparison to the hip-hop feel we have always known her for. After playing the track he commented:
“Is that Nicki Minaj or Katy Perry?…..I mean no disrespect to Nicki Minaj, but it was nice having you in hip hop. I’m not saying Nicki’s not a rapper or that she can’t rap because the opposite is true. By nature she’s an incredibly talented rapper. But i’m a hip hop head and to be frank this song right here Starship is literally one of the most sellout songs in hip hop history.”

And here’s the actual song in question…[audio:http://THEJASMINEBRAND.COM/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Nicki-Minaj-Starships1.mp3|titles=Nicki Minaj – Starships]
So what do you think…is Rosenberg right, is “Starships” too pop for hip-hop?
