[South African News] Robert De Niro’s New York Film Festival to launch in South Africa

Some exciting news for South Africa just came about. Robert De Niro’s Tribecca Film Festival is to make its home in Cape Town for the next 5 years. Who made this all happen? espAfrika, which is the same organization that organizes the Jazz Festival. They signed a five year agreement to host the Cape Town edition of the film festival which will kick off in 2013… Yay, for SA!

FYI: The original film festival was founded by Robert de Niro after 9/11 to promote the cultural and economic revival of Lower Manhattan. It provides a platform for innovative filmmakers to showcase their latest work, and includes crowd-pleasing blockbusters-to-be, provocative documentaries, foreign films, shorts, free outdoor screenings, and panel discussions and lectures. @Philatyekana
