Guess Who Topped Forbes’ “Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists” List?

Yesterday Forbes released it’s list, “The Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists 2012.” Here’s who made the cut:
#1. Diddy (Real name Sean John Combs) ($550million net worth)
Diddy’s millions come from his Bad Boy Records label; his Ciroc Vodka sales, which increased drastically after Ciroc Peach was released; Sean John and Enyce clothing line stakes, and his stake in a marketing firm called Blue Flame. And don’t forget the new TV network deal Diddy has just gotten into with Comcast. In 2013 he will own a television channel called Revolt, which is predicted to have great viewership, and launch him into billionaire status.

#2. Jay-Z (Real name Shawn Corey Carter) ($460 million net worth)
In addition to his album and concert sales (which have been outstanding this year, due to “Watch The Throne” success), Jay also has a deal with Live Nation, plus stakes in the NJ Nets team, his 40/40 club chain, an ad firm called Translation, and the cosmetics company Carol’s Daughter. He also sold his RocaWear clothing line for $204million.

#3. Dr. Dre (Real name Andre Romelle Young) ($270 million)
Dr. Dre’s recent income boost came from his Beats by Dre Electronics and Headphone deal.

#4. Birdman (Real name Bryan Williams) ($125 million)
He co-founded the successful music label, Cash Money Records, which is doing some serious numbers, thanks to artists like Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil’ Wayne.

#5. 50 Cent (Real name Curtis James Jackson) ($110 million)
In addition to record and concert sales, 50 Cent sold his Vitamin Water stake. He also makes a considerable amount of money from his acting; the video games, shoes, and books themes after him; as well as his headphone line. And don’t forget his new energy drink, Street King, which is sure to make the rapper even more money.
