Beyonce Asks Fans To Give Back On August 19th, World Humanitarian Day

We stand corrected. Last week, Beyonce left a mysterious message on her web site. She wrote:
‘Leave your footprint on 19 August 2012?
While many of us assumed (and/or hoped) that she’d be dropping new music on this date, we were wrong. Beyonce has sent a personal message to her fans and stans, in the hopes of encouraging them to participate in the United Nations’ (UN) World Humanitarian Day (the day that she previously mentioned on her site).
What exactly IS World Humanitarian Day? Held on August 19th, it’s a day that honors all humanitarians who have worked in the promotion of the humanitarian cause, and those who have lost their lives in the cause of duty. The actual day is the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which killed 22 people. On her web site, Bey instructed visitors on how they can join in:
ON THE 19TH OF AUGUST 2012
WE RISE TOGETHER – FOR EACH OTHER.
DO ONE THING. NOTHING IS TOO SMALL. DO ONE THING FOR ANOTHER HUMAN BEING.
1. VISIT WWW.WHD-IWASHERE.ORG
2. CLICK ON “SHOW YOUR SUPPORT”.
3. CHOOSE TO SUPPORT WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY VIA TWITTER, FACEBOOK OR BOTH, AND GET THE WORD OUT TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS.
4. CONTINUE TWEETING AND POSTING IN THE LEAD-UP TO 19 AUGUST.5. ON 19 AUGUST, MAKE YOUR MARK BY DOING SOMETHING IN YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, AND WATCH AS EVERYONE’S WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY MESSAGES ARE SIMULTANEOUSLY SHARED AROUND THE WORLD.
THIS BEGINS WITH EACH OF US. MAKE YOUR MARK AND SAY, ‘I WAS HERE’.
AND TOGETHER, ON AUGUST 19TH, WE’LL MAKE OUR STORIES KNOWN.
MUCH LOVE,
B
