TV One had a surprise hit last season with R&B Divas followed the lives of Faith Evans, Syleena Johnson, Keke Wyatt, Monifah Carter, and Nicci Gilbert as they sought to re-established their musical careers. While those ladies are currently shooting season two in Atlanta with the addition of LaTocha Scott of Xscape and Angie Stone, the next chapter has arrived with spinoff R&B Divas: LA.

Here’s the quick and dirty! The spinoff will follow musical careers and personal lives of Kelly Price, Chante Moore, Lil Mo, Miche’le, Dawn Robinson of En Vogue and Claudette Ortiz of City High. The show will begin production in Los Angeles this month and is scheduled to premiere in late 2013. Over eight episodes we will follow the ladies as they seek to reestablish their careers and mend issues in their personal lives. New cast members Dawn Robinson & Lil’ Mo tweeted her excitement:

Kelly Price has had a very successful career over the past ten years. She has collaborated with artists including Mariah Carey, George Michael, Elton John, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Faith Evans, Eric Clapton, Whitney Houston and James Brown. Price has modeled for Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart and taken her talents to the screen and stage with roles in the films Soul Food and Bringing Down the House and the plays Why Did I Get Married? and The Bible Experience. Her latest album, Kelly was released in 2011 garnering three Grammy nominations.Price is the last singer to perform with Whitney Houston. Price is married to her manager Jeffery Rolle and they have three children.

Chante Moore is a preachers daughter who signed her first record deal at age 22 after being discovered at a beauty pageant. She has had several hit singles including  “Love’s Taken Over,” “It’s Alright,” “I’m What You Need” and “Chante’s Got A Man.” She has been nominated for several awards including Soul Train and NAACP Image Awards, and won the Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band or Duo for the song “Contagious,” featuring The Isley Brothers.  The recently divorced mother of two is set to star on Broadway in the musical ‘Gospel Soul Rock ‘n’ Roll’ and has an album set for release in 2013.

Lil Mo’ is a popular singer, songwriter and radio personality. She is known for her collaborations with Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Fabolous and Ja Rule. The mother of four (ages 10 to 4 months) left the music business to focus on her family with husband and manager Philip Bryant. She is now ready to make musical comeback.

Mich’ele is known for her high pitched, mousy speaking voice and powerhouse vocals. She has had hits such as “No More Lies” “Nicety” and “Something in My Heart” while signed to Easy-E’s Ruthless Records. She dated producer Dr.Dre and the couple had a son but broke up after Dr. Dre left Death Row. In 1999, Miche’le married Suge Knight and they had a daughter before divorcing in 2002. Miche’le is now reentering the music scene after a 10 year hiatus. She is also writing a memoir and entering the dating scene.

Dawn Robinson was a member of seven time Grammy nominated female R & B group, En Vogue known for hits “Free Your Mind” “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” and “Hold On.” After En Vogue disbanded, Robinson joined Lucy Pearl with Raphael Saadiq (Toni, Tony Tone!) and Ali Shaheed Muhammed (A Tribe Called Quest). The group released one album and broke up shortly after.In 2002, Robinson married singer/songwriter Dre Allen and released a solo album. Robinson and Allen divorced in 2007. Robinson is focused on releasing a book and forming another girl group, “GLAMM.”

Claudette Ortiz-The Jasmine Brand

Claudette Ortiz is a former model and lead singer of the grammy nominated R&B group City High. The group disbanded in 2003 and Ortiz married former group member Ryan Toby. Their tumultuous relationship ended in 2007. The single mother of three once considered enlisting in the Air Force to ensure financial stability and is now ready to focus on her music career. Glad to see this ladies back in action!
