Paralympic Star Oscar Pistorius Charged With Murdering Model Girlfriend +
Are we the only ones that found this story shocking? During the Olympics, remember the inspiring story of Olympic competitor Oscar Pistorius? He’s the Paralympic superstar (he has double-knee amputations) that South Africa was cheering for. He became the first double leg amputee to participate in the Olympics when he entered the men’s 400 metres race and was part of South Africa‘s 4 × 400 metres relay team. This week, the 26-year-old athlete was charged with shooting his supermodel girlfriend to death in his home. Reeva Steenkamp, a model and budding reality TV show participant, was shot and killed at Pistorius’ upmarket home in an eastern suburb of the South African capital in the predawn hours of Thursday, sending the country reeling. Early Friday morning, Oscar was formally charged at Pretoria Magistrate’s Court with one count of murder. Pistorius stood with his face in his hands as he broke down in tears on his first court appearance. (Story developing…)
And in other mainstream (not so serious news) ever wondered if Honey Boo Boo’s mama can dance? Welp, you’re about to find out (don’t roll your eyes!). Her name is June and she’s the mother of Honey Boo Boo (you know, of the TLC reality show, ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’) and there’s a slight chance we may see her on ‘Dancing With the Stars’.
The New York Daily News quoted a source saying “Dancing” was considering Mama June as a hopeful, although the Huffington Post quoted a TLC source saying no dice. So what REALLY are the chances of seeing June get her waltz on? Well, she’s certainly been working out–she’s lost more than 100 pounds. She claims that she lost the weight be not any special diet or hitting the gym daily, but activity required for the family’s TLC reality show. Anywho, only time will tell if she makes the cut.
