Beyoncé’s New Album Forbidden In Target + Wal-Mart Disagrees, Begins Selling Album Friday
Target isn’t too thrilled about Beyoncé’s non-traditional album to her new self-titled album. The store has released a statement, explaining why its shoppers will not be able to cop her singer’s new album in any of their stores. Target spokesperson Erica Julkowski said in a statement to E! News:
At Target we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections. While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyonce in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats. At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce’s new self-titled album ‘Beyonce.’
Meanwhile, Wal-Mart seems to be taking a different approach, opting to offer their customers the CD. Wal-Mart spokesperson Sarah McKinney told theGrio:
We’re gonna do whats right for the customer. Our customers obviously love Beyoncé and we want to make sure we have it in stores… and it will be on this Friday. We’re releasing the album in approximately 4,000 stores nationwide. Our customers love Beyoncé so we’re excited to be able to offer them her new album. I’m sure it will be a top gift this Christmas. People still love to buy physical CDs. There is a demand.
She released her latest album digitally on December 13th. It features 14 new original songs and 17 music videos to accompany them. It is already the second-biggest seller of the year and the fastest-selling album in iTunes history. On a non-business note, this week, VEVO has Beyoncé’s XO video, directed by Terry Richardson. If we don’t care about other people doing whatever they want, then we shouldn’t care about Target doing whatever they want. Buy the dog gon CD over at Wal Mart. Target got the right to do whatever they want. She did her album however she wanted.
Stfu!!
Love the song very soft and mellow and love the video!
Target aint stopping nothing. Shit Walmart aint stoopid they gon get that money.
Target ain’t tryin to stop nothing. They just doing them, that’s all.
Girl hush…target just played themselves hating on Bey lime that. They aint stopn shyt!
If they were “hating” they would have never sold any of her cd’s before. They wouldn’t carry any of her prior stuff on the shelves right now. Use more brain cells than to always think somebody hating. Now hush on that.
Not sure how well the CD will do at Walmart. They only sell edited music. Not that there’s a lot of profanity, but enough to cause a stir.
