Thursday evening, Lupita Nyong’o snagged her first ever, award at the Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actress. The 12 Years A Slave actress moved the entire audience, as she delivered a moving acceptance speech where she started off by saying

I’m a little terrified.

In between light tears and humor she continued:

I’m so honored to be here…This has been an incredible year of excellence performances…The incredible Steve McQueen…Steve, your passion, your dedication and your smile inspired me every day on set. I’d like to dedicate this to my uncle who always came to watch every play I was in. He didn’t live to see this day but I’m sure he’s proud of me.

Her sincerity, humor and humility led a standing ovation, bringing Oprah Winfrey to her feet. Watch the entire speech.
