[EXCLUSIVE] Kanye West – Drops Coinye West Lawsuit, Company Slapped w/ Permanent Injunction
The “coins” — which feature a South Park-esque depiction of Kanye sportin’ stunner shades — were first offered to the public for sale on January 7 and Kanye says, “With each day that passes, [my] reputation is irreparably harmed by the continued use of the Coinye West marks.” Kanye sought a piece of the company’s profits and a permanent injunction against them using his likeness.
Then on July 24th, docs were filed in the case which state that the defendants and Kanye reached a settlement. The deal states that without admitting any guilt they will cease using his likeness for their virtual currency now and forever. They all agreed to not create any product that would confuse confusers into believing Kanye West endorsed or supported it. Kanye then filed docs stating he was voluntarily dismissing the case due to their settlement agreement.
