According to the Huffington Post, he had joined peaceful demonstrations at St. Louis University on Sunday night. The site reports that West was well aware that he’d be arrested during his visit. He said during a large mass protest service:
It’s a beautiful thing to see people on fire for justice, but I didn’t come here to give a speech. I came here to go to jail.
According to CNN, he was among an estimated 10 people arrested at the “Moral Monday” march. No additional information about his release has yet been shared.
Grey’s Anatomy actor Jesse Williams is also in Ferguson, participating in the protests.
