[INTERVIEW] Tiny & Shekinah Jo Talk ‘Weave Trip’, ‘Tiny Tonight’ Cancellation & What They Love Most About Their Friendship

Shekinah: We not sure you have to ask them.

Tiny: That’s the big question of the day.

Shekinah: [Jokes] Did you all not like us? Were we not good enough for you?

Tiny: We were wondering, where did Tiny Tonight go?

Shekinah: I don’t know what happened because I would love my little sofa interviews that I would do with the boys and the girls. I loved that.

Tiny: It was a pretty good show. We coulda added some guests and everything but we tried to tweak it to eventually add on [more].

Shekinah: And I think it had something to do with timing too. But it was cute, and we never know, they might order up some more. It was like a seasonal thing. We would come and go off and come on. We never came on every week. It would be like, Thanksgiving, Christmas.

Tiny: We kinda wanted to be more like every four days out the week.

Shekinah: We wanted to do five days.

Tiny: Yes, we wanted to do five days.

theJasmineBRAND.com: Are you interested in doing another talk show?

Tiny: We definitely would.

Shekinah: Yesss..you think I don’t wanna ask somebody something? I wanna ask you questions!

Tiny: For real, our show is open. Whoever wanna pick us up, were open.

theJasmineBRAND.com: Your new single, “What the Eff You Gon Do?” — was well received. Are you surprised? What inspired this song?

Tiny: Yeah! I thought it had the chance to do really good, but I was surprised people took to it so fast and it was received so quick. And…life experiences. I was going through some things and I felt like putting things down the way I know best. I do that a lot. I go in and record things for myself.

theJasmineBRAND.com: Tiny, any plans for an album or an EP?

Tiny: I do have plans to do an EP. I have a couple songs I been working on and been traveling a lot so I haven’t had time to buckle down and get to it, but I do have plans for an EP.

theJasmineBRAND.comNow, Tiny we hear about your relationship — good and bad — with Tip. But Shekinah we don’t really hear about your relationship — unless I’ve missed it. Do you have a man?

Shekinah: My love life aint y’all business. Its not y’all business. If I’m single or not single why does it matter? A lot of ni–as out here bein’ opportunists. These men ain’t taking care of women no more, its women taking care of men. I’m really just chillin’. I have someone that I’m dating but that’s it. I’m 30 with no kids.

theJasmineBRAND.comTiny, what kind of man do you think Shekinah needs?

Tiny: A rich laid back guy for her. A white guy. She’s so strong and overpowering, and she can emasculate men. She needs someone thats more mellow.

Shekinah: I’m working on not calling men b*tches. But they call us b*tches all the time!

theJasmineBRAND.comIs it tough having a friend that isn’t married? I know some women, once they become married, they try to hang with other couples.

Shekinah: Well that’s on them! I’m happy for her. I was in her wedding and encouraged her to get married. That’s on them. That’s good. I want her to be happy and I want her to be married and have kids. Your friend that’s single should have a life.

Tiny: It’s like saying only married men should be friends with married men, but some of the married men are worse than the single ones.

theJasmineBRAND.comEveryone that’s married says marriage is SO hard. Why is that?

Tiny: You have to know when to compromise, when to break and its hard. You have to deal with these emotions that change and flip daily, and it can be overwhelming at times. It’s a lot of trust and working as a team.

theJasmineBRAND.comBoth of you are VERY active on social media. Here are a few questions from Instagram. Is there tension between Shekinah and Tip?
