Columbus Short Admits Cocaine Use During ‘Scandal’: I was self-medicating.
Ummm, the real drugs. I did cocaine and I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot. Umm, and trying to balance a 16 hour work schedule, a day. And a family. I just lost myself back there.
Columbus also claims that Shonda Rhimes, Scandal’s creator and executive producer, was fully aware of his struggles with drugs:
She did and if we’re going to be fully transparent. They protected me and they held me down and that was one of the real reasons — they just wanted me to get my stuff together. And sometimes, the bottom as to get dropped out for you really to get it.
