Kanye West Releases ‘Only One’ feat. Paul McCartney [New Music]
Kanye West is giving music lovers a gift on the first day of the year. On December 31st, he released ‘Only One‘ featuring Paul McCartney.
Ye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, wrote on Instagram why ‘Only One’ is so special to her:
Everyone asks me what my favorite Kanye song is. It’s Only One. Kanye felt like his mom was singing thru him to our daughter. This song makes me cry every time I hear it. He releases it at midnight tonight on iTunes.
The mid-tempo track features the GOOD Music leader singing of his late mother, Donda West, who passed in 2007. Ye sings the song from his mother’s perspective, to her grand-daughter North.
Hello my only one. Just like the morning sun, you’ll keep on rising ’til the sky knows your name. Hello my only one. Remember who you are. No you’re not perfect, but you’re not your mistakes.
Singing from his mother’s perspective, he adds:
I just want you to do me a favor, tell Nori about me, tell Nori about me.
