(EXCLUSIVE) Nicki Minaj: My Ex-Wig Maker is Trying to Shake Me Down For Millions, Claims She Never Signed a Contract
According to the lawsuit, Terrence claimed that Nicki took his wig designs and then sold them to the public. He also said that she promised they would do a reality show together, worth millions of dollars but it never happened.
Nicki responded to the suit, accusing Terrence of filing the legal battle because he was bitter he lost his most famous client and said he can’t trademark a wig style and therefore she didn’t do anything wrong by selling the wigs.
The federal court judge agreed with the singer and dismissed the entire lawsuit, stating that Terrence never had any written contracts with Nicki and therefore had no case. The order awarded Terrence nothing from his $30 million dollar legal battle. However, the wig maker wasn’t done fighting Nicki and filed an appeal in the case a month later attempting to overturn the judges decision.
On February 12th, Nicki filed docs in the appeal reportedly stating that if Terrence was to win an appeal — it would set a dangerous standard that if you hire someone as a hairstylist that automatically makes them a business partner. Nicki says she never had any agreements with him and he cannot sue her for alleged promises he claims she made.
Nicki says Terrence was only hired to design, create and deliver the wigs to her. She says in regards to the wigs she sold, hairstyles aren’t copyrightable and she didn’t break any laws by selling similar designs
The singer is demanding the appeal court NOT reverse the original order and dismiss Terrence’s lawsuit once and for all. See the exclusive court docs.
