(UPDATE) Iman Shumpert Pissed At ‘Empire’, Claims Show Stole His & Teyana Taylor’s Character
Is imitation REALLY the highest form of flattery?
Absolutely not says NBA baller Iman Shumpert.
The Cleveland Cavaliers player — who dates singer Teyana Taylor — has some serious issues with the popular Fox series, Empire. In fact, he believes that they’re copying and have stolen his and his girlfriends’ likenesses for the show’s characters, Hakeem (played by Bryshere Y. Gray) and Tiana (played by Serayah).
While he admits that he’s yet to see an episode, he’s seen photos of the characters referenced above. Plus, his says that his family and friends find it ironic that his on-screen girlfriend Tiana, resembles him and his girlfriend.
He says:
They’re using my girl’s character, her style, her look and she’s not getting anything for it. They didn’t even change her name. They could have at least let my girl audition for the part instead of stealing her character completely.
