theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Nicki Minaj’s hit song “Anaconda” lined the pockets of Sir Mix A-Lot by sampling the 80’s song “Baby Got Back”, but the DJ who worked on the track with the one hit wonder is furious and has now filed a federal lawsuit accusing him of screwing him out of profits.
A musician named David Ford filed a federal lawsuit against Sir Mix A-Lot (real name Anthony Ray) accusing him of screwing him out of profits made from Minaj’s hit song “Anaconda”.
Ford explains that in the late 80’s and early 90’s he collaborated with Sir Mix A-Lot on various songs. He says that in the 80’s he started listening to mixtapes and decided he wanted to do what those artists were creating and taught himself how to DJ along with break dance. Ford says eventually he became a well known DJ in Washington.
Then in 1988, Ford says he met Nasty Nes who ran a record store in the area who introduced him to Sir Mix A-Lot.
The two started working on music with Ford as the DJ in the tracks and he even worked on the rappers debut album including the hit song “Baby Got Back”. He says over the years he continued to work with Sir Mix A-Lot and even toured with him on occasions. However, after 7 years of working together they ceased working together.
