(EXCLUSIVE) Sir Mix-A-Lot Wins Legal Battle Over Nicki Minaj’s Royalties
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Sir Mix-A-Lot scored a legal victory in the battle with his former music partner, with a federal court judge siding with the “Baby Got Back” hit maker and throwing out the man’s suit demanding a cut of Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” royalties.
A musician named David Ford filed a federal lawsuit against Sir Mix A-Lot accusing him of screwing him out of profits made from Nicki Minaj’s hit song “Anaconda.”
Ford explained that in the late 80’s and early 90’s he collaborated with Sir Mix A-Lot on various songs. He says that in the 80’s he started listening to mixtapes and decided he wanted to do what those artists were creating and taught himself how to DJ along with break dance. Ford says eventually he became a well known DJ in Washington, who eventually was introduced to Sir Mix A-Lot.
