Lupita Nyong’o Talks Covering Vogue, Plans to Direct & Her Experience At Yale [VIDEO]
On starting off at Yale and not being an actress:
I was a production assistant on The Constant Gardner. I interned in the art department. I was basically trying to figure out what part of the entertainment world I wanted to be apart of. Deep down, I really just wanted to be an actor. I was just having a hard time admitting that.
On her relationship with her parents:
They are well. They live in Kenya…I’m texting with them everyday. I know when they are in traffic, I know who is late for dinner. So, I feel very connected to my family…My mother’s always worried if I had breakfast, you know? (laughs) She’s like – ‘You’re on The View, but have you had breakfast?’
On being on the cover of Vogue for second time:
This was one of the most memorable shoots for me…. I was wearing couture and felt so good to be wearing all these hand made pieces….I felt really, really beautiful in this shoot….It was such a spectacular experience.
