Was That Shade? Mariah Carey Addresses Her ‘I don’t know J.Lo’ Comment

We love a little vintage shade and one of the queens of subtle shade is Mariah Carey. For years, there have been reports that the legendary singer was not the biggest fan of her fellow singer, Jennifer Lopez (J.Lo). Apparently, this silent feud began years ago — in the early 2000’s. Carey was asked on her thoughts about J.Lo and she replied,

I don’t know her.

Reportedly, that simple statement took on a life of its own. Fast forward to the present day and Carey sorta-kinda addresses her remarks saying she

was just being honest.

She explained to The Cut when asked if she’s recently received any crazy gifts from fans.

Well, there was a very interesting shirt that a fan made with a quote that I said years ago that, when I said it, I really wasn’t trying to be funny. I was just being honest and everybody’s kind of blowing it out of proportion but this guy had a shirt on and it was a picture of me that he made and the quote was underneath it — and I’m going to leave you hanging as to what it was.
