Keesha Sharp Replaces Golden Brooks In ‘Lethal Weapon’
Keesha Sharp has been cast in the Fox pilot Lethal Weapon and will co-star opposite Damon Wayans Sr., according to Deadline. Initially, Golden Brooks (who stars on TV One’s reality show Hollywood Divas) was originally cast in the part, but the decision to cast Keesha was made this week at a table read.
The pilot is based on the cop action comedy movie franchise and is written by Matt Miller and directed by McG. Keesha currently plays Johnnie Cochran’s wife in the hit FX miniseries American Crime: The People vs. OJ Simpson. She also worked on the series Girlfriends with Golden. See the description of the pilot, according to the site:
Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (Clayne Crawford) suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he is partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayans), who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid stress in his life. Sharp will play Roger’s hardworking, perceptive and loving wife Trish, who worries about him and is not thrilled when she hears about his new adrenaline-crazed partner. In the movies, Trish was played by Darlene Love and Roger by Danny Glover.
