Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ Film Addresses Rumored Strained Marriage, Father’s Infidelity and Black Lives Matter [Photos]
She came. She saw. She conquered. On Saturday night, Beyonce Knowles’ mysterious ‘Lemonade’ made its debut on HBO. And while we certainly can’t provide a detailed account of the intricate details, we can give you the quick and dirty of her 60 minute movie.
The video/movie had a number of over-arching themes: Intuition. Denial. Apathy. Emptiness. Accountability. Reformation. Forgiveness. Resurrection. Hope.
One of the main themes in the movie centered around infidelity. As you know, Beyonce does not address the headlines surrounding her and her family in public, but uses her art to at times, answer questions. There has been much speculation that the infidelity that she sings about is either:
a) about her father, Mathew Knowles cheating on her mother, Tina Lawson (who has since remarried) or
b) her husband allegedly being unfaithful at one point in their relationship.
Nonetheless, both Beyonce’s dad and Jay are featured in the movie. In fact, Jay and Beyonce share an intimate moment together toward the end of the movie.
The movie featured a number of famous faces including Serena Williams (who did a mean body-roll/twerk cameo), Zendaya Coleman, Quvenzhané Wallis, Amandla Stenberg, along with the mothers of Treyvon Martin, Mike Brown and others.
