Leslie Jones Quits Twitter, After Being Bombarded By Racist Tweets
Fresh off of starring in the Ghostbusters sequel, Leslie Jones is making headlines not for her new film, but for negativity spewed in her direction on social media. On Monday, the comedian/actress was bombarded with racists and hateful tweets. She shared some of them with her followers, writing at one point:
I feel like I’m in a personal hell. I didn’t do anything to deserve this. It’s just too much. It shouldn’t be like this. So hurt right now.
She also called out Twitter to create stronger guidelines regarding hate speech
Stop letting the ignorant people be the loud ones.

On a positive note, many rallied behind her using the hashtag #LoveForLeslieJ to combat the negativity. Unfortunately, Leslie has since left Twitter.

That’s sad. At a time when she should be riding high on her Ghostbusters success (which by the way, I saw and it was surprisingly good) she has to deal with this. Get it together, folks.
The snub and disrespect to me was when NOT ONE DESIGNER!!! wanted to dress her for a particular red carpet event. That doesn’t usually happen for these events. She was snubbed by them.Im gonna guess it was because they thought she was too black and unattractive.Because Hollywood is sooo superficial. This is a damn shame.
Why? I don’t know for a fact it was racism. But,Why no one wanted to dress her was about her physical appearance one way or another.
the first time i tried to watch her debut on SNL and support, it was a skit all about her being a big black woman who needed to breed like some damn cattle or something, I was so offended and wondered who signed off on that. Everytime i see her she is playing the loud, intimidating, masculine mammy type. I’m wondering why she puts herself in that box, do you want to act that bad? See the thing is, they’ll let you dance and perform, but they’ll write the narrative and then they’ll show you what they really think about you. You can play their game, but youre just a pawn. Im sad she was attacked that way but I also wish her dignity as a black woman was stronger than her desire to be on the white man’s tv. They been playing her, dude.
Hmm. I get what you are saying but, what makes Lesli, different from say Taraji Henson accept looks? 80/85% of Taraji’s movies she’s playing ghetto, loud & intimidating also. With Lesli she just owns her appearance and does it well. That’s how she get’s paid. Lupita will always play an African or slave to some extent. It seems that if Lesli speaks her mind or reacts she’s ghetto. It’s sad that if you look a certain way you don’t have the right to react!!. WRONG. As far as her being played I’m sure she’s not the only one, 1/2 if not more is being played. I grew up with someone that is really good friends with her and from the sounds of it, she is good people…
