“Murder In the First” Starring Taye Diggs Cancelled
It’s a wrap for TNT’s Murder in the First. According to a new report, the cable network has pulled the plug after three seasons. Murder in the First is a detective anthology drama series created by Steven Bochco and Eric Lodal, and starred Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson. Set in San Francisco, the show followed a single case across an entire season. The series premiered on June 9, 2014, and aired 32 episodes through three seasons.
The series wrapped its three-season run Sept. 4 with just more than 1 million viewers — down considerably from its series debut of 3 million-plus.
Taye Diggs is best known for his roles in the Broadway musicals Rent and Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the TV series Private Practice, the film How Stella Got Her Groove Back and the film The Best Man and its sequel The Best Man Holiday.
He currently has a recurring role on Empire, playing Councilman Angelo Dubois.
