John Singleton’s “Straight Outta Heaven” Drama Bought By CW
The CW has snagged the hourlong drama, Straight Outta Heaven, written and executive produced by John Singleton and Dallas Jackson. The project is being described as Touched by an Angel-meets-“Ghost” with an urban twist. It’s also being pegged as a faith-based, hip-hop-infused guardian angel drama. Jackson says of the project,
John and I have similar genre taste and recognized a need on network television for the underserved urban youth audience and faith-based audience. The CW is the perfect home for this new kind of hero we’ve created who’s superpower is faith.
Singleton and Jackson also teamed up for the BET drama Rebel, which shot a pilot this past summer. Singleton also has the new FX drama Snowfall, which was just ordered to series.
