Kehlani Will Never Be In A Public Relationship Again
On leaving home as a teenager:
I left the crib at 14. Was sleeping on homie’s couches and basements and studios and things like that. So Nick was like, ‘You can’t focus on music if you don’t know where your going to even take a shower at.’ So he surprised me and got me my first apartment in L.A. I never had my own room. I never had my own bed. He decorated my apartment and everything. He’s such a special person. He’s always been by my side. He’s the biggest angel I’ve ever had in my life.
On being emotional:
I don’t [get] angry. I don’t think I possess the emotion of anger. I get sad. I get my feelings hurt all the time. It doesn’t come back as aggression. It’s a Bay area term. I go crazy. It’s just means like that’s tight.
On if she would ever have a public relationship again:
[FYI: Kehlani dated NBA player Kyrie Irving and PartyNextDoor]
No. To be honest those weren’t decisions that we said — lets be public. It was, we care so much and people are catching us anyway and people are pointing us out in a restaurant we can’t go to the movies ,we can’t hold hands in public. In 2020, I want to go to the movies with my boyfriend. Never ever will I have a public relationship again.
On who she wants to work with:
I really want to work with Nicki Minaj. She’s so tight. We met at the studio once. I think she’s so dope. And the biggest power woman ever and bad ass and so out there. I want to work with all the dope girls. Ariana, Rihanna and Beyonce.
On the Dakota pipeline:
I’m part Native American, Blackfoot Cherokee. My sister living on site right now healing the water warriors and taking care of them. I’m sending her love and prayers everyday because she freezing trying to make sure everyone is ok.
But, to know we just celebrated it not happening and to hear that it’s going to be moving forward regardless. Not only is disrespectful and disheartening and dehumanizing to the Native American culture. But people are going to die. People are going to get sick.
