Cynthia Bailey Felt Pressured To Drag Ex
Cynthia Bailey admits that showing her divorce on reality TV brought a unique set of challenges. On this season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, viewers watch both Cynthia and ex Peter Thomas throw in the towel, ending their marriage. Cynthia explains while speaking at the Texas at Sisters in Power Tour,
When I decided that I was going to get divorced from Peter and the new season was beginning to tape, I went to the producers and said “I have a deal breaker. I’m going to be getting a divorce but I refuse to drag this black man on national TV.” Sure our divorce wasn’t perfect, there were a lot of conditions, conversations & text messages. We said unthinkable things to each others, but I’ve always said that I’m going to leave this relationship with the same amount of respect, integrity and grace that I came into this marriage with.
Cynthia also admits that she felt pressured to drag Peter.
The producers would come to me and say “he may come for you and he may do this..” and I would tell them that I don’t give a damn what Peter does, he can go on Wendy Williams and do as many interviews as he wants, I know what I gave to this marriage and he knows what I gave to this marriage. One of the things I’m most proud of is going through this divorce and not making it a shit-show.
The super model also maintains that she refused to sell out for TV ratings:
In your soul, in your heart and in your spirit, at some point you have to make a choice and decide to have some integrity and some grace and some respect within yourself, especially when you’re on a platform like reality TV. Some things you just have to do for yourself and not for the sake of ratings or for followers.
