DJ Khaled Wants To Replace LA Reid At Epic

Rumor has it, DJ Khaled is HIGHLY interested in filling LA Reid’s position at Epic Records. A source says,

He was petitioning to get that job. He’s like, ‘I make more happen than anyone in the game, why would I not be considered to run the label?’

Another source adds,

Khaled is a big hype machine — not a person who’s running a record label. My guess is [Sony Music UK CEO] Jason Iley will run either Columbia or Epic or they will take [RCA president] Tom Corson and put him at Columbia or Epic.

LA Reid

As previously reported, earlier this month, the 60-year-old music veteran departed as chairman of Epic. He joined the organization in July 2011. While with the label, he was responsible for signing DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, Future and others. He is also responsible for bringing Mariah Carey back to Sony fold. Last week, it was reported that he was fired from Epic over sexual harassment allegations. [Click here for the backstory]. Epic nor Reid have commented on his departure or potential replacement.
