Mariah Carey Prepping Starz Drama Series Based On Her Life
The story of Mariah Carey’s life is heading to the small screen. Reportedly, the 47-year-old singer’s rise to fame is is being developed by the Starz network. The fictional scripted drama series will be based on the the Mariah’s real-life experiences. The mega star is executive producing alongside longtime friend Brett Ratner.
Written by Nina Colman (Mahogany), the drama is set in 1986 New York City and chronicles the rise of an ambitious bi-racial 16-year-old girl, an aspiring singer/songwriter who survived a difficult childhood to become the biggest selling female music artist of all time.
Colman, who will serve as showrunner. Most recently, Carey recently toplined and executive produced a reality show/docu-series series for E!, called Mariah’s World. She also made regular appearances on Empire.
