Mike Epps Accused of Stealing New BET Show From Producers
Mike Epps may want to lawyer up! The 47-year-old comedian is being accused of stealing the concept for a new BET show that he’s hosting. Early next year, Epps is set to host the “THE BET SOCIAL AWARDS”. The awards will celebrate the very best (and worst) in social media over the past year.
However, three producers claim that the concept of the show does not belong to the comedic actor, but it is an idea that they came up with.
Bervick J. Deculus, LaMichael Finney and Calvin Valrie are the three producers who say the idea belongs to them. In fact, they say that earlier this year they pitched the idea to Epps’ cousin. They say that they never heard back from Epps or his team and were surprised when the Social Awards were announced. Reportedly, they had plans to sell the show to FOX, not BET. They’ve sent Epps a cease and desist letter about the situation.
