Very sad news. Winnie Mandela has passed away. The apartheid activist and wife to late South African President Nelson Mandela was 81-years-old. According to reports, the news was confirmed by a close relative and her personal assistant, Zodwa Zwane.

The cause of death was a “long illness,” according to her family. They also said that she had been in and out of hospital since the start of the year.
