Idris Elba To Create & Star In “Turn Up Charlie” Netflix Series
Idris Elba is taking his talents to Netflix. He has snagged a straight-to-series, eight-episode order for half-hour series called Turn Up Charlie. Elba will star and exec produced the comedy.
Elba, whose breakout role was on HBO’s The Wire, will star in the comedy as Charlie, a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a manny to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter.
A premiere date has not yet been determined.
Elba started his career as a DJ in East London clubs before making it big in Hollywood. He currently stars as John Luther on the BBC One drama Luther.
