Kelly Rowland Bursts Into Tears – I Miss My Mom’s Voice
During her appearance on The Voice, Kelly Rowland (who is a coach on the competition series) shared a raw, emotional moment on camera. The 37-year-old singer unexpectedly broke down over the death of her mother Doris Rowland Garrison three years ago.
While mentoring contestant Hannah Pearce, Rowland became emotional when Pearce referenced her own father’s death when she was a young girl. Pearce explained that she no longer remembered her father’s voice. Rowland responded,
I’m sorry I’m crying … you just said something so profound. I miss my mum’s voice. It’s so true, you do forget their voice. I didn’t know that it was going to pull up the emotion that it did.
Rowland returned to the mentoring session — but had to have a quiet moment away from the cameras to compose herself.
I’ve grieved now for three years. It’s the greatest loss of my life.

Rowland’s mother died in December 2014 at the age of 66, a few weeks after the birth of Kelly’s first son, Titan Jewell Weatherspoon.
