Will Smith Was Apprehensive About Son Jaden Wearing A Skirt

Jada Pinkett-Smith recently opened up about her and husband, Will Smith’s feelings about their son, Jaden Smith’s free spirited fashion choices. In 2016, he infamously started adding skirts to his wardrobe, and as a result, became the face of Louis Vuitton Women.

Will and Jada, known for their unconventional parenting methods, weren’t immediately onboard with Jaden’s fashion experiment. Will, 49, was particularly uneasy. Jada, 46, recalls her conversation with Will about their son. She explained,

He has his feelings on that for sure. I remember Will calling me and being like, ‘Have you talked about this Jaden and him wearing a skirt?’ And I said, ‘Yeah I have. He’s pretty happy about it.’ 

Jada added that Jaden, 19,

…talked about wanting to wear skirts to give kids the freedom, to give other people the freedom to think out of the box for themselves and not feel like in doing that that they would be bullied or be attacked in some way.

That wasn’t the only motivation for the skirts according to Jaden,

I wore the skirts so I could look fly…so everyone would say, ‘He’s an innovator. His head’s in a different place.’

In other Smith news, Jaden recently released a remix to his hit single, “Icon,” featuring reggaeton artist, Nicky Jam.
