Jada Pinkett Smith’s Talk Show Gets 13 More Episodes
Red Table Talk has just been renewed for 13 additional episodes. The web series launched on Facebook’s video on-demand service called Facebook Watch in May. With a red round-table, Jada Pinkett-Smith, her daughter, Willow Smith, and mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris star in the series. The women discuss a string of taboo friendly subjects, centered around a family dynamic.
The additional episodes will be an extension of season one, which was originally set to premiere 10 episodes, but since their debut, the series has launched six episodes. The series explores controversial and thought-provoking discussion through conversation of women from three different generations. In hopes of providing a community for conversation and a foundation of support, Ricky Van Veen, the head of Global Creative Strategy at Facebook, says,
The community engagement we’re seeing with Red Table Talk is exactly what we had hoped for when Facebook Watch launched last year. The show is a shining example of how compelling content can drive meaningful conversations forward, and bring people together around issues that matter.
Pinkett-Smith has reacted to the news and excited to where the series will go,
The community that has been built around the Red Table is so strong and keeps my mother, Willow and I inspired to keep going. We are so grateful to be given the opportunity to do so by continuing The Red Table Talk journey with Facebook Watch.
While the topics for the next 13 episodes have not been initiated, Pinkett-Smith gives relief to viewers that,
There is so much more to explore together and so many people to bring to the table to do it with us. We have learned so much along the way. With that being said, I believe, this next 13 … is going to be fire!
Jada Pinkett-Smith is the executive producer, along with Ellen Rakieten (also produced The Oprah Winfrey Show) and Miguel Melendez.
