Kanye West Cries During Fashion Show

Since Off White designer, Virgil Abloh, 37, was appointed as Louis Vuitton’s first Black men’s artistic director, the fashion world has anticipated his debut projects with the luxury staple brand.

Today, Virgil showcased his hip hop influence in his debut show for Paris Fashion Week – and ended the show with an emotional reunion with former collaborator and friend, Kanye West.

Virgil and Kanye’s embrace seems to insinuate a truce.

Virgil and Kanye’s friendship started during their internship with fashion house, Fendi, and collaborated in the early stages of Yeezy. Since then, their relationship has become complicated. When Virgil’s role at Louis Vuitton was announced, Kanye gave this cryptic quote:

It’s not bad or good…[Abloh and I] have been fighting to make apparel at a certain price that still has the same credibility and desirability as something at a higher price.

He continued:

When they say [Abloh] was my creative director, that’s incorrect. He was a creative collaborator.

Rapper Drake touched on the tension between Virgil and Kanye in this verse from “Duppy Freestyle,” which targeted Kanye and fellow G.O.O.D. Music rapper, Pusha T:

I could never have a Virgil in my circle and hold him back ’cause he makes me nervous, I wanna see my brothers flourish to their higher purpose, You niggas leeches and serpents, I think it’s good that now the teachers are learning…

As expected, Virgil’s Louis Vuitton debut was a star-studded affair. Travis Scott, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West were all pictured sitting front row for the show.

Rapper Kid Cudi walked during the show to a mix of Kanye’s “I Thought About Killing You” from his “Ye” album, and he and Kanye’s “Feel the Love” from their collaboration album, “Kids See Ghosts.” Other celebrity models included rappers Playboi Carti and ASAP Nast.

Virgil posted his final walk in the show with the caption:

you can do it too…

you can do it too…

Virgil Abloh was appointed as Louis Vuitton’s men’s artistic director in March of this year. Following their emotional embrace, will there be a return of Kanye West as “The Louis Vuitton Don?”
