Nelly’s Cuts Ties With His Father, After He Hangs With Ex-GF Ashanti: I’m No Longer Supporting You!

Nelly caught fan’s attention over the weekend when he opened up about his father. On Saturday, the Derrty ENT rapper, posted a tweet about the relationship he has had with his father. He wrote,

The word father is [a] strong word.. something I never knew anything about as a child because mine never did what he had todo only what he wanted… ‘HOPE IT WAS WORTH IT POPS IM DONE WITH YA NO MORE MONEY FROM ME’ LET THEM PAY YA BILLS..!!

It’s not ironic how this tweet came shortly after Ashanti’s concert performance in St. Louis Friday evening. In a video shared to Instagram after the show, the “Say Less” singer can be seen standing side by side next to Nelly’s father, Cornell Haynes Sr.

In a short clip, Ashanti is jokes and giggles with Nelly’s dad. She asks,

Alright, Mr. Haynes. We in the Lou [ St. Louis, Missouri], did you have a good time at the show?

He responds,

Yes ma’am, I’m enjoying myself. Yep, thank you. I appreciate it.

It’s unclear why the “Country Grammar” rapper would be upset to the point of cutting his father off financially, but it could have something to do with the fact he and Ashanti used to date. The pair called it quits in 2012, when reportedly, Nelly found Ashanti was cheating on him.

In another tweet, he recanted on his life growing up with only one parent, his mother,

You don’t see my mama … should have known she would hold it down she always had a job came to my games saw her son graduate saw me score my 1st touchdown bought me my 1st pair of J’s wiped my tear away when I lost the big game and taught me how to play sports.! ‘MAMAS BOY’..!!!

Nelly also shared his sentiments on Instagram. With screenshots of his tweets, he captioned the photos with,

Just because it’s ya DNA DONT MAKE YOU A FATHER..!!! Mine never saw me play sports never taught me anything never saw me graduate and I still took care of him for almost 20 years he never to care of me for half that..!!!! And till this day he still does what ever he wants even tho I pay his bills .. ‘WELL USE TO’ ..!!! That’s Over as of tonight ..!!!

In another post, he wrote a sweet message to his mother, thanking her for all she did,

S/O to all the mamas that had to be fathers for the kids…to my mama who taught me how to catch and play ball took me to my game borrowed money to buy me cleats and stood up and cheered when I walked the stage .. I LOVE YOU Mama….!! I GET IT NOW TOTALLY..!!!

Ashanti has yet to provide a statement in response to capturing a video with Nelly’s father at her concert.
