EXCLUSIVE: TV One Launching New Channel For Women

theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, business is booming for TV One, so much so that the network is expanding in a major way. Sources tell us that the network, founded by Cathy Hughes in 2004, is launching a new channel called Cleo (or Chleo). We’re told that the channel will focus on women as its key demographic and audience.

BET was really able to capitalize off of BET Her. TV One wants to expand it’s programming and target a female audience too.

Sources say that the new channel will premiere some time this year and the network is already in the planning phases of creating new shows.

TV One is an American digital cable and satellite television network that is owned by Urban One(formerly Radio One until May 8, 2017), having acquired Comcast’s stake in the TV network in 2015.
Headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland, TV One’s programming targets African American adults with a broad mix of original lifestyle and entertainment-oriented series, documentaries, movies, concert
performances and reruns of sitcoms from the 1970s through the 2000s. As of February 2015, TV One is available to approximately 57 million pay television households (48.9% of households with at least one
television set) in the United States.
