Monica Responds To Brandy’s “Boy Is Mine” Shade

Over the past few years Monica and Brandy have been at odds with each other. As previously reported, Brandy has been accused of shading Monica during a recent performance. She performed her and Monica’s Grammy winning duet, “The Boy Is Mine”. Towards the end of the song Brandy told the audience:

The song is mine. I gotta claim what’s mine. If I don’t got the boy, I’ve got the song. You know what I’m saying?

Monica has yet to comment directly, but some speculate that a recent social media post references Brandy’s comments. Posing in satin pajamas and flip flops Moncia captioned the photo:

This is not the first time the two singers have had beef. Monica and Brandy have been feuding with each other off and on since the 90’s. Back in November 2016, Brandy took the stage at the Soul Train Awards
to perform a medley of her greatest hits while being recognized as the Lady Of Soul Honoree. During a performance of the song, “Talk About Our Love”, she changed some words of the song and took jabs at Monica, singing,

I know somebody’s lying. It’s always something. Talking ish again then your whole fan base jumps in. Now the whole ‘Gram’s buzzing.

According to reports, Monica responded to Brandy’s performance and told a fan on Instagram that she supports the singer.

Love that goes BOTH ways.. it’s disappointing to leave ICU and come to my page to see the foolishness of the 90s ever so present amongst BOTH groups. I will forever respect the legend she is & the history we created.

She continued,

All of you guys do the same. She’s a vocal beast and we’re both great in our own right!! This is her moment. She earned it and deserves it. No mention or @ of my name needed !!
