Barry Jenkins Releases Official Trailer For ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’
Barry Jenkins may have another Oscar-worthy film on his hands. The Moonlight filmmaker has just released the official trailer for If Beale Street Could Talk, based on the novel by the late James Baldwin.
The novel is set in Harlem in the 1970’s and tells the story of Alonzo and Clementine, who are in love. Alonzo is accused of raping a Puerto Rican woman and sentenced to prison time. While Alonzo is imprisoned, Clementine finds out that she is pregnant and does everything she can to find evidence that will prove his innocence so that he may be released from jail before the baby is born.
On what would have been James Baldwin’s 94th birthday, Barry Jenkins posted the trailer for his film adaptation of Baldwin’s book.
For me, August 2nd has always been a day to pay tribute, so… a teaser of what's to come. Happy Birthday, Jimmy ?????? pic.twitter.com/1Miu4jfWvg
