Beyonce Pays Tribute To Aretha Franklin At Detroit Concert
Amidst reports that Aretha Franklin, 76, is gravely ill, Beyonce dedicated the Detroit leg of the On The Run II tour to her while in the Queen of Soul’s hometown.
Shortly after Jay-Z and Beyonce performed “Holy Grail” as their opening song, Beyonce addressed the audience in the wake of the news surrounding Aretha Franklin. “We love you,” she told the crowd of over 40,000, thanking the legendary singer for “the beautiful music.” DJ Khaled also included the singer’s hit song “Respect” during his opening set.
Aretha Franklin’s career spans six decades. Recently it was reported that she was “gravely ill” and given only a short time to live. New reports say that the singer is currently in hospice care at her home. Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman says in a statement:
“She has a great family, she’s surrounded by love, and the world is sending prayers. All further announcements will be made by her family. We just want to send love and prayers.”
We are keeping Aretha Franklin in our prayers.
