R&B Singer Tank Contemplates Changing Sound & Going Mainstream – I Feel Like I’m Very Underrated

Self-proclaimed R&B general, Tank recently asked his social media followers if he should switch up his  R&B sound to pop in an effort to appeal to a broader audience. In a video, he asks

“I saw a comment the other day on one of my posts, that says, ‘Tank does a lot of core R&B music, which is great, and it definitely appeals to that crowd – he is the best at. But I wish he would do more mainstream music so he could appeal and appreciated by a broader audience. A much bigger audience. I felt like I’m very underrated because I stick to my foundation. Should I branch out and try bigger music for a bigger audience?”

While his followers weighed in, his music industry counterparts did, as well. Justin Timberlake offered,

“Let’s get in the studio and do BOTH, big bro! Right after you get them groceries #HappyWife”

Tank responded with a charged,

“READY!”

Jennifer Lopez, who was a recent recipient of a Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award encouraged him writing,

“Do it!! Do it all…”

His response to the pop star/actress,

“This means the universe to me. It all will be done.”

Former Love & Hip-Hop Hollywood star, Willie Taylor also offered his perspective if Tank pushed to mainstream music,

“As artist we must always stay true to ourselves and what have to bring to the table. That’s the thing that makes every true artist different…”

Tank accepted his outlook and replied how he wants his music to grow as he does,

“I don’t want to be different. I just want to be more. As I grow and learn the music should reflect that. I am more than one thing and I think its time the world knows that.”

Former Destiny’s Child singer, Michelle Williams also gave her opinion on the R&B singer changing his sound,

“Experiment…..just have fun man!!!”

The new husband replied,

“I’m having so much fun not overthinking it. I shall continue..thank you mama.”

The last album Tank released was his “SAVAGE.” He delivered the 11-track melodic album in 2017. It boasted features from J. Valentine, Candice Boyd, Trey Songz, and Ludacris. It also features his smash radio single “When We.”

What do you think if Tank branched out to a new sound?
