As Promised Nicki Minaj Gives $25K To Actor Geoffrey Owens, He Donates It To Charity
A few weeks ago, amidst the social media chaos surrounding Geoffrey Owens’ employment at Trader Joes, Nicki Minaj offered the former Cosby Show actor $25,000. Since the attention he’s received, Owens has been given multiple television roles. Minaj has also made good on her word and gave him the money she promised. However, Owens had other plans for it.
Instead of keeping the money for himself, Geoffrey Owens has decided to donate Nicki Minaj’s donation to the Actors Fund. He said in a statement:
I would like to give this donation of 25K to the Actors Fund in memory of the late, great Earle Hyman — who played Cosby’s father, Russell, on ‘The Cosby Show’ — who lived his last many years and died at the Actors’ Home, (funded and run by the Actors Fund). I am extremely grateful to Nicki Minaj for enabling struggling actors to continue pursuing their dreams.
Nicki Minaj says:
I’m happy to be a part of a great cause. I wish Geoffrey much success and want him to know how loved he is. Rest in Peace to Earle Hyman.
Owens, a 30 year veteran in the acting world, has just landed roles on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and Have Nots and CSI: New Orleans.
