Pete Davidson Sends Shots To Kanye –Being mentally ill is not an excuse to act like a jack*ss!
Last week, Kanye West had the entire world buzzing about his appearance on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. As the Chicago rapper closed the show, he insisted that he was bullied for wearing his Make America Great Again hat and advised not to wear it. Kanye’s longtime friend and collaborator, Malik Yusef, says that he was forced to leave SNL early when he tried (to no avail) to get Kanye to remove his MAGA hat. According to Yusef, they got into a dispute over it and he hadn’t talked to Kanye since. Now, SNL’s Pete Davidson is weighing in on what transpired last week.
During SNL’s The Weekend Update segment, Davidson had a lot to say about last week’s musical guest.
A lot of people thought Che was supposed to be the one to talk about [Kanye West[ but we both discussed it and you know, Che is black and I’m crazy, we both know which side of Kanye is at the wheel right now. Speaking strictly for myself, what Kanye said after we went off the air last week was one of the worst, most awkward things I’ve ever seen here. And I’ve seen Chevy Chase speak to an intern.
Davidson then shows a clip from Kanye’s Trump rant with the SNL cast awkwardly and nervously standing behind him. Davidson is seen standing behind Kanye with his head down, appearing to be hiding from cameras. He then walks off stage midway through Kanye’s rant.
We all have to stand behind him and I’m like “Oh God” but then I’m like “I want a career” so I leave.
So, Kanye was wearing a MAGA hat. That’s what it’s called. It’s stupid. And he started by saying people backstage tried to bully him into not wearing it. He wore it all week. Nobody told him not to wear it. I wish I told him not to wear it, suggested that it might upset some people. Like your wife, or every black person ever.
Davidson then criticizes Kanye for his thoughts on politics and then suggests the rapper get back on his medication.
Then Kanye said that Democrats broke up black families with welfare and that slavery is not real. You know how wrong you have to be about politics for me to notice? Kanye is a genius but like a musical genius. Like Joey Chestnut is a hot dog eating genius. But I don’t want to hear Joey Chestnut’s opinion on things that are not hot dog related. I know Kanye you’re like, “this is the real me. I’m off the meds”. Take them! There’s no shame in the medicine game. I’m on them. It’s great! There’s nothing wrong with taking them. If I ever got on a plane and the pilot said, I just want all you to know, this is the REAL ME FLYING!, I’d jump out. Being mentally ill is not an excuse to act like a jackass.
Davidson concluded his bit by putting on a Make Kanye 2006 Again hat. Watch the entire skit below.
