Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Mom Reveals She Didn’t Like Jada’s White Boyfriend
In the latest episode of Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett-Smith, her mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones and Willow Smith discussed race in America and Banfield-Jones recalled how she felt when Jada was dating a white guy named John. Jada shared,
It’s really difficult for me because we have white people in our family. I repeated what Mommy told me, was that you have to learn to get along with white people, but don’t ever bring them home.
According to Banfield-Jones, her family even gives the white people in their family a hard time.
Just like I said, we have people in our family [who are white] and I’ve given them a hard time. Jason is married to a white woman … She will tell you we gave her a hard time because we didn’t welcome her with open arms and she really had to prove herself. I feel bad about that.
However, Banfield-Jones admits that when a black family member got married to a white man, they accepted him more because he acted
“more black.”
