Courtney Kemp Reacts To Death of “Power” Cast Member Killed On-Set Accident
“Power” creator and executive producer Courtney Kemp is sharing her condolences to Pedro Jimenez, the crew member who was sadly killed this week. Sharing a photo of Pedro she writes,
I have not known how to write this post; social media is an odd, impersonal place for grief, often an odd place to commemorate a life. A few sentences cannot address the love, humor, courage and strength of a man loved by so many. Pedro Jimenez was a beloved member of our crew and here since season one. This is a tragedy for the Power family, and even more for Pedro’s family and friends, who must face the holidays and the coming cold months ahead without him. If you are a fan of @power_starz and have enjoyed our show, please know it takes hundreds of people to make the series that you enjoy. Pedro was one of those people. Pray for him and for his family. Tell your loved ones how you feel about them so they know for sure.
As previously reported, Pedro was struck by a car in New York. Reportedly, he was working as a production assistant and setting up traffic cones about 4:30 a.m. ET Monday, prepping for a location shoot in Brooklyn. He is said to have died after being hit by an SUV. He was 63. Starz said in a statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of the members of our Power family. Our thoughts are with Mr. Jimenez’s family as we work to fully understand what has happened.”
Power cast members have also shared their condolences on social media.
According to reports, production on the series has temporarily shut down. Condolences to Pedro’s family and friends.
