Pastor John Gray Addresses Rumors He Cheated On His Wife: I Had An Emotional Affair [VIDEO]

Pastor John Gray and his wife Aventer Gray have set the record straight as rumors swirl about their marriage.

The couple stopped by The Real and the co-hosts got right to it when asking about John’s admission that he cheated on Aventer.

Co-host Adrienne Bailon asked John if he was ever unfaithful.

“No, I didn’t but over a year ago my wife and I were in a very difficult place in our marriage. And in that time, I began to converse with someone other than a counselor, other than a pastoral leader, which is where I should have taken my issues and challenges. [I] began to converse and was even in the presence of that person one time. But being in the presence of someone is not the same as sleeping with them.”

He also addressed rumors that he has a secret love child with the woman he allegedly cheated with.

“There’s no baby, there’s none of that. So it’s important for me to take responsibility for the areas where I did come short…sharing things about my marriage outside of my wife and outside of my counselors is an emotional affair. It was wrong. I take responsibility for that. But I will not take responsibility for that which I did not do.”

He added:

“As a pastor it’s important for people to now that when I get up in that pulpit that I come not as a perfect man, but as a broken man. Which is why we talked about these very things in the first sermon of our church. People act like this is something brand new. But we’ve walked through this, we have peace, but people don’t. The genesis of this was over a year ago, but we talked about this in May at our church. We’re moving forward, we’re believing God that this will be an opportunity for other people to heal.”

He then reiterated that he never had a physical affair.

During the video admission before his congregation, John said he was listening to the wrong voices, and one voice got too close, and Aventer found out and

“set it off just like a good wife should.”

Aventer then called out the “strange woman” and said the mystery woman was able to speak to an insecure younger John and get his attention.

Also in the interview, he confronted rumors that he used his church’s money to buy his wife a $200,000 Lamborghini for their eighth wedding anniversary.

“I wanted to do something that signifies what she means to me, and it didn’t come from anyone but me, my life savings. Not one cent [was from the church], this is a man blessing his wife, because that’s what a man should do.”

He said he has successful TV shows, books, and other opportunities to create income that allowed him to afford the luxury car.

Aventer chimed in and said they connected over cars, and pointed out they never even posted it on Instagram.

“We would never put it out there because we know that people don’t understand. All of the timelines are off, we’ve been over stuff… people are just catching up. If people don’t know you, it could be a lot.”
