Usher Wants Herpes Accuser’s Medical Team To Testify About Her Health History In Civil Suit

Legendary singer/dancer/actor Usher is continuing with his efforts to prove his innocence in his ongoing civil suit that alleges her gave a woman herpes after a sexual encounter. According to Bossip, Usher has requested that the woman’s medical team take the stand regarding her health history—concluding that he wasn’t the one who gave her the sexually transmitted disease.

Usher has been keeping himself pretty busy these days working on his highly-anticipated new album that has paired him with the same heavyweights who contributed to the success of his record-breaking, Grammy award-winning album Confessions. However, he’s also been dealing with an ongoing civil suit stemming from accusations that he infected Laura Helm with the herpes virus back in 2017 after they had two sexual encounters.

Helm is still actively pursuing her lawsuit, but Usher has continued to fight back and dispute the claims. His latest act of defense involves wanting Helm’s medical team to testify about her medical history in the attempt to prove that she was already infected with herpes before she had sex with him. Earlier this month, Usher’s legal team officially subpoenaed Helm’s medical team to testify about her overall health.

Usher is seeking testimony from Helm’s doctors in both Atlanta and New Orleans. Additionally, he wants the medical centers where the doctors are employed to present Helm’s medical records from 2012 to the present. The records request includes, test results, prescriptions, diagnoses, payment records and doctor communication records. The chart-topping entertainer also requests that Helm’s doctors are questioned regarding their understanding of herpes, including how it’s treated and preventing it from spreading.

The information obtained from the testimony, will allow Usher’s lawyers to use it in his defense in the suit. The civil suit also seeks damages and a trial by jury. Helm’s doctors are set to officially testify in April.

As recent as March 18, Helm’s attorneys had yet to file any depositions following the new developments. However, it’s rumored that her legal team plan to also request Usher’s medical records by subpoenaing his doctors.
