‘The Wire’ Actor Anwan Glover Arrested & Jailed For Having Loaded Gun In Car
Not so good news for actor Anwan Glover. According to reports, the 47-year-old actor is currently in jail after being arrested for having a loaded gun in his Jeep.
Anwan is known for his portrayal of “Slim Charles” in the HBO crime-drama television series The Wire. He is also a founding member of the Washington, D.C.-based go-go band “BackYard Band”.
Anwan was reportedly pulled over in his Jeep on June 26 and booked for unlawful possession of a firearm – a misdemeanor – after police say they searched his car during a traffic stop and discovered the unregistered handgun.
Reportedly, police were notified to be on the lookout for vehicle with a driver who was allegedly brandishing a gun out the window. He is said to have been pulled over because his car matched the description and was making multiple lane changes without signaling.
Reportedly, when asked if he had any weapons he said no. He also said no when they asked if they could search the vehicle but the officers did it anyway, claiming probable cause.
Police are said to have found a loaded Smith & Wesson MP Shield 9mm and arrested him.
His lawyers reportedly filed a motion to have him released on bail so he could continue working but that was refused. He has denied any knowledge of the gun in the vehicle, and also argued police had no business targeting him. He was due to appear in court on Monday.
Anwan’s most recent TV credits include: The Deuce (2017-2018), Scream Queens (2015)
Unsung (2015), Elementary (2013), Treme (2010) and American Gangster (2008).
