Tituss Burgess Calls Andy Cohen Ratched & A Messy Queen After He Asks About Eddie Murphy Anti Gay Rumor

Sunday night, “Watch What Happens Live!” viewers witnessed a bit of an awkward moment between host Andy Cohen and his guest, actor Tituss Burgess. The conversation centered around Titus’ work with Eddie Murphy in the upcoming movie Dolemite Is My Name. Andy questioned Tituss’ interaction with Eddie, saying that in the past he had not been nice to the LGBTQ community. Andy questioned,

Was he cool to work with?

Titus noted that he had a great experience with Eddie.

“He was wonderful to work with. He is a brilliant man and I’m so excited, for all of the younger generations who do not know Eddie Murphy, will learn why he’s the legend that he is.”

Andy then asked Tituss if he got to “chat” with Eddie “at all” during filming. Titus responded,

“Of course I did. Why wouldn’t I?”

To this, Andy stated,

I just wonder if you got close at all ’cause he was very problematic for the gays at one point when I was coming up.

Titus replied,

“Oh, I see. He wasn’t problematic for Tituss. We had a wonderful time.”

Titus also noted,

It was a long time ago, people can evolve. He was great. And any troubles he may have had with gay people I guess are gone because he loved me.

Titus then appeared to say something under his breath to the audience and Andy asked,

What are you saying, Tituss?

Tituss resonded,

“Keep going, girl. Do your show.”

Afterward, Titus responded to the interaction, referring to Andy as ratched and a messy queen. He wrote,

She can be a messy queen! Yes I said it! Don’t care he knows either! He should remember his talk show isn’t an episode of the real housewives of Atlanta! It’s a place where artists come to talk about art and have a little fun. NOT a place to rehash old rumors or bring a star negative press.
