Fabolous Calls Out Shiggy For Requesting A Fee To Post Song
Social media influencer Shiggy made his overnight success on the heels of Drake’s ‘In My Feelings,’ era in 2018, taking the single all the way atop of the Billboard charts. During the song’s success, Shiggy became a viral sensation influencing the likes of singer Ciara, actor Will Smith, and NFL superstar Odell Beckham, Jr., to participate in the new trendy dance craze.
On Tuesday, while backstage at a recent Fabolous concert, Shiggy was called out by the rapper after requesting a fee for an Instagram post that would promote Fabolous’ music. One guy says on the live,
“Shiggy is out of line.”
During the live, Casanova is seen speaking to Shiggy who is declining to do a favor for Fabulous. The influencer/comic says that without any initial payment, he can’t perform the request. Shiggy says in the clip,
“It’s my job … I gotta eat.”
“You gettin’ too corporate … There’s n***as like you that we let in our f*cking sections all the time, we give you our liquor, and we let you have fun. You wanna do that with Drake? You was doing [the dance] without none of that.”
According to reports, based on the average following of the influencer, comedians and popular users of social media platform can earn a pretty penny. Mega-stars like Selena Gomez and Kylie Jenner allegedly pull in $800,000 and $1,000,000 per post. Respectively, both have more than 100 million followers, while those with the smallest following on the list charge between, $1,300 to $3,000 per post.
Fabolous goes on to tell the backstory on Shiggy when he allegedly reached out to Shiggy to collaborate on a skit for the #ChoosyChallenge in support of his “Choosy” single featuring Jeremih. To his surprise, he says Shiggy had the audacity to text in response,
“Yo, I need a check.”
